Wii're Not So Sure

28 April, 2006
The Nintendo Revolution now has a new name: Wii. That's pronounced 'we'. As you can see in the logo, the two i's could represent the one-handed controllers. Or, they could just look cool. Who knows. The name is, well, alright. It's not fantastic by any means, but it's not absolutely horrible. As one of the comments I read stated: "I'm going to go play with my wii" just sounds really wrong.

The Google Cheat Sheet

22 April, 2006
I just found this really cool "cheat sheet" as they call it. It tells you everything you could ever want to know about Google. Here's some of the things included: A complete list of all Google domains A complete list of all Google services Miscellaneous Google information (Revenue, number of employees, etc.) The query structure for Google movie and music search Google Calculator operators Advanced search operators Complete list of official Google blogs It's pretty sweet.

Google Innovations

19 April, 2006
Google is churning out the goods. Maybe I’ve just been out of it, but they seem to have a ton of brand new awesome stuff. Google Calendar, Google Page Creator, Nifty Firefox Extensions, you name it. And of course, Gmail is always being updated. Here’s some quick synopses: Google Calendar - A scheduling calendar. I read about it on a blog where the guy said he was going to stop using iCal for Google’s alternative.

Windows and Mac: The Convergence

6 April, 2006
Well, it’s officially started: Apple will dominate the world one day. With the release of Apple Bootcamp, you can run Mac OS X and Windows XP on your Mac. It just asks you which operating system you would like to run every time you start up your computer. This will completely eliminate any compatibility problems between PCs and Macs. If you receive a file you can’t read, just boot up Windows.

Nplay? April fools!

1 April, 2006
Nintendo Revolution Now Called “Nintendo nplay” was what my eyes saw, and my mind jumped. Had Nintendo already chosen a name, so soon after announcing that “Revolution” was a codename? Alas, it was not to be. As soon as the link to the press announcement didn’t work, I was a little suspicious. I did a little searching, and I am now 99% sure it was a fake. I had kind of hoped it was; “nplay” just doesn’t grab me.

Software? Hmmm.

23 March, 2006
I’ve been doing a little research about software developing, and there are many different views. Eric Raymond is a strong advocate of open-source software (See OpenSource.org). The big problem that I see with open-source is this: How in the world are you supposed to make money? I mean yeah, you’ll probably provide a good product for free, but how do you make a living off of that? Of course, open-source does have it’s advantages.

An Incredible Milestone

2 March, 2006
It’s a milestone. Wikipedia has now published one million articles. That’s a seven-digit number! The lucky one millionth story article published was about Jordanhill Railway Station. Other articles created within the same minute included an overview of the Tennessee Commissioner of Financial Institutions, a biography of baseball player Aaron Ledesma, and a look at cellular architecture. You can find just about anything on Wikipedia. There is even an article on REBOL, which is constantly edited by all the gurus.

Peugeot Moovie: Concept Car

1 March, 2006
The latest extremely odd, but cool, looking concept car is the Peugeot Moovie. I don’t know a whole lot about it, but here’s some basic facts: It’s mostly made of high-density foam and polycarbonite. It has two coats of paint to top everything off, and the lion is made in stereo before being chromeplated. It has two really small wheels in the front, and two huge ones in the back that double as doors.

The Best Designed Product in the World

20 February, 2006
I am now the proud owner of an iPod. A 30GB iPod video, to be exact. I am here to tell you that it is the best designed and most thought-out product on the market. Just about everything about it is perfect. Here are some of the good things about it: Brilliant display - Viewing pictures is incredible; watching videos drains the battery, but it’s still pretty darn cool. It actually looks better than my computer monitor.
